Liverpool is one of two Premier League giants who are particularly interested in signing a Premier League winger, but his club is already making attempts to block the transfer.
The Reds brought in two new wingers this summer, but if they had their way, the number would have been three. Bradley Barcola and Victor Muñoz arrived, but the original plan was also to bring in a left-footed right winger – something Liverpool now lack.

Cody Gakpo was on his way to joining Manchester City, while Liverpool pushed for Yankuba Minteh or Ismaila Sarr.
But when none of the deals were considered possible at a suitable price, the Gakpo transfer was shelved.
The Dutchman has started the new season brilliantly, but Liverpool still go for a new winger sooner or later. They revealed that Andoni Iraola’s team, along with Arsenal, are particularly interested in signing Brentford’s Kevin Schade.

Sky Sports senior reporter Lyall Thomas wrote: “Brentford have held initial talks with Kevin Schade over a new long-term contract following his excellent start to the season and growing interest from bigger clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool.
“The winger has scored three goals in Brentford’s unbeaten start to the season, which has placed them fourth in the Premier League after their first five games – with two wins at home against Tottenham and Chelsea and three draws.
“Schade has been followed by major Premier League clubs for some time, including Chelsea and Tottenham, but Arsenal and Liverpool are believed to have been the most eager as the summer transfer window drew to a close.
“The Germany international has entered the final two years of his current Brentford contract – signed when he joined from SC Freiburg for £20 million in June 2023 – and the west London club are keen to give him improved terms.”
Schade is right-footed and can operate on both flanks, which means he doesn’t necessarily solve Liverpool’s need for a specialist on the right wing.
Still, he is among the fastest players in the Premier League right now, and lightning-fast speed is something Liverpool sorely lacked in wide positions last season.
Kevin Schade was in Germany’s line-up for the Nations League start against the Netherlands. Even though national team boss Jürgen Klopp is testing out two full squads in the space of four games, it must be a good feeling for Liverpool that their old boss trusts someone who is on their radar.
