Lucas Digne has completed his transfer from Aston Villa to Paris Saint-Germain. The French international returns to the club he played for early in his career – and has signed a three-year contract at the Parc des Princes.
The 33-year-old left-back joined Villa from Everton in 2022 but spent his early years as a senior at PSG. Now, eight years later, he is back – after PSG chose to activate a release clause in his contract of £8.5 million.

“Honoured to return”
Digne is clearly touched to come home.
“I am very honoured to return to Paris St-Germain after the fantastic experience I had here more than ten years ago,” says Digne.
“I am particularly impressed with how the club has developed over the years.
He is ready to challenge Nuno Mendes for the spot at left-back, joining a PSG side that has won the Champions League two years in a row – most recently after a penalty shootout win over Arsenal in the 2026 final.
From Barcelona via England – back to Paris
Digne made 30 appearances for PSG in his first spell before joining Barcelona in 2016. This was followed by Everton and Aston Villa in England.
At Villa, he helped win the Europa League last season – the club’s first major trophy since 1996.
Now he becomes the third senior to leave Villa Park before the new season, after Morgan Rogers left for Chelsea and Youri Tielemans for Manchester United.
For Digne, however, the road has come full circle – back to Paris, back to PSG, and to a club that has taken big steps since he left.
