The reigning Champions League champions for the second year in a row are already thinking about their next big signing, and Luis Enrique has proposed an operation that could reach 80 million euros.
Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Martín Zubimendi, a 27-year-old Spanish midfielder who belongs to Arsenal. The English club are said to be willing to consider offers close to €80 million – an amount that places the potential deal among the biggest in the upcoming market.

The interest also comes from Luis Enrique, who knows the player’s qualities and appreciates his ability to play as a central midfielder. PSG’s transfer market is once again looking towards a Spanish footballer who is under contract with the Gunners until June 2030.

Martín Zubimendi’s situation has changed since he arrived in London. Arsenal paid around £60 million to Real Sociedad in the summer of 2025 – a deal that was closed after several months of negotiations between the two clubs.
His first season ended with the Premier League title and Arsenal in the Champions League final. However, Zubimendi experienced less playing time towards the end of the season and started the European final against Paris Saint-Germain on the bench, coming on in the 91st minute.
This distribution of minutes has continued at the start of the 2026/27 season. Zubimendi has played in the first four Premier League games, but has only accumulated 63 minutes without a goal or assists. He has also played nine minutes in the Champions League.
The scenario opens up an opportunity that seemed more difficult months ago. Reports indicating that PSG are monitoring the player suggest that Arsenal will consider offers of around €80 million – despite the midfielder still having almost four years left on his contract, according to El Nacional.
Luis Enrique keeps Martín Zubimendi on his radar
Luis Enrique’s interest adds another element to the deal. The PSG coach currently has a midfield with players such as Vitinha, João Neves, Fabián Ruiz and Warren Zaïre-Emery, so bringing in Zubimendi will require a significant investment and a concrete decision in the club’s sporting planning.
Zubimendi has experience in both LaLiga and the Premier League. Before joining Arsenal, he played 236 official games for Real Sociedad, where he developed and stayed until the age of 26 before moving to England.
His name was also linked to Real Madrid before his transfer to the Emirates. The Spanish club was one of the teams associated with the player during that period, particularly due to his previous relationship with Xabi Alonso, who had coached the midfielder at Real Sociedad B.

Arsenal’s position will be crucial. Zubimendi signed until 2030, so the English club is not under any contractual pressure to sell, and can set the financial terms for a potential departure.
