Manchester City have been warned that their players could ‘tear up their contracts’ after the club was found guilty of 115 financial charges.
The sky blues are wanted by almost everyone on the ball island in the opposite direction of the sky and there will be consequences beyond the penalties that the Premier League will hand out.

The signals from the Etihad are clear that they will appeal the verdict, which was made by an independent commission and announced earlier this week. Manchester City are accused of entering into ‘skin’ contracts and deals to artificially inflate the club’s revenue between 2009 and 2018.
What now Manchester City?
Should the charges hold, there could be a lot of trouble on the horizon. Possible penalties mentioned include hefty fines, transfer bans, points deductions, and even relegation and deprivation of titles. Manchester United’s treble from 1999 is in many people’s opinion now back as the only treble in British football.
However, it has now been claimed that the club could even lose players for free. Should anyone in the current squad take legal action against their employers, they will have a real case, according to lawyer Paul Gilroy KC.
Speaking about this week’s verdict at The Overlap, Gilroy was asked by Ian Wright if the players could take action against Man City.
The legal expert replied, “Definitely, yes, good question, from the players’ perspective. Every employment contract, whether it’s for a footballer or someone who works in a store, has an implied clause. In other words, it’s not written down. And the implied term we’re talking about here is the concept of trust and trust.”

Manchester City’s ‘irrefutable evidence’ against the Premier League revealed after guilty verdict
Manchester City officials have repeatedly stated that they have ‘irrefutable evidence’ to prove the club’s innocence.
Explaining the principle of ‘trust and confidence’, he added, “So if I work for you, you and I need to have sufficient trust and confidence in each other for that relationship to work.
“If you don’t trust me, or I don’t trust you, or if you call me a liar and a thief on Tuesday, I can’t work for you on Wednesday – trust and confidence.
Then, according to Gilroy, a player could potentially tear up their contract, continuing, “Now a player can say, ‘You’ve breached the implied trust and confidentiality condition. You’re my employer, you’ve breached this clause, and that gives me the right to say I’m tearing up my contract and walking out.'”
However, he admitted that it would be unlikely, adding: “It’s a possibility; I’ve seen commentators say it’s unlikely, but it depends on so many things. What is the club going to say to the players? How do they arrange it financially? Etc, etc. But you could argue that it’s certainly a possibility.”
Jamie Carragher quickly joked that Erling Haaland could join his old club Liverpool for free. He joked: “So Liverpool can sign Haaland for free next week?”
Erling Haaland, City’s biggest name, is currently on international duty with Norway. He has yet to comment publicly on the guilt, but teammate Kristoffer Ajer has revealed how the striker has reacted to the news.
The Brentford and Norway defender stated that Haaland has not changed since the news broke and is still waiting for the final result. He told the press:
“He’s been just like he’s always been on the national team.
“He’s really focused on the upcoming Games. I think he’s trying to do the same as everybody else, wait and see what the outcome is – but right now the main focus is Wales tomorrow night. Obviously, that’s been his way of doing it.”
