Some believe Rasmus Hojlund never got his chance at Erik ten Hag, where most of United’s attacking play went outside the striker. Others believe the young Dane had plenty of opportunities, but had neither the confidence, composure nor precision to score. United supporters therefore got their tea in their throats, when Hojlund, on loan to Napoli before the start of the season, immediately started delivering for the reigning Serie A champions. The United supporters themselves had brought in a young, Slovenian striker, with no experience in the world’s toughest league. It turns out that Man United actually come out of this situation as the winner.
Benjamin Sesko needed some time to acclimatize to the Premier League, but unlike Hojlund, he has cracked the scoring codes. After Ruben Amorim disappeared from Old Trafford, the 22-year-old has an impressive 9 goals in 14 Premier League games. The last came against arch-rivals Liverpool in the 3-2 victory.
There are therefore no United supporters who think anymore about whether Hojlund could have had his breakthrough, if, if, that. Sesko is the right one.

In Napoli, the club management is delighted with their United striker. The Dane has 10 goals and 4 assists in 30 Serie A games. According to the Daily Mirror , Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has now stated that they will trigger the purchase clause in the loan deal. It is 44 million euros, the agreement with Højlund on personal terms is already in place.
United have Sesko delivering from a striker position, and will now be able to cover 44 of the 75 million euros they themselves were pressured to pay for Hojlund in 2023.
This still ends well for Manchester United. Great Sesko success in combination with Napoli’s willingness to pay 44 million euros for a permanent Højlund transfer, not many people took that for granted before the start of the season.
