Manchester United have announced their second transfer after the summer deadline day passed. This time it is young midfield talent Jack Moorhouse who packs his bags – the trip goes to Scottish football.
While United were one of only two Premier League clubs to remain completely silent on Deadline Day, there has since been full of activity behind the scenes at Old Trafford. On Wednesday evening, news broke that great talent Chido Obi is leaving for Willem II on a season-long loan to gain important first-team experience in the Netherlands.

Now it’s Jack Moorhouse’s turn. The 20-year-old midfielder is ready for Dundee in the Scottish Premiership – and with that gets his second loan spell as a senior.
From League One to Scotland
Moorhouse spent the first half of last season at Leyton Orient in League One, where he scored three goals and contributed greatly to his breakthrough as a senior. After a lengthy injury spell, he worked his way back and established himself in United’s U21 team in 2024/25, with several training sessions and match squads with the first team as added motivation.
The club writes in a statement:
“The 20-year-old fought his way back from injury and became a key piece in the U21 team in 2024/25. He has also been involved in training and matchday squads with the first team.”
“Last season he was on loan at Leyton Orient, where he made 24 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists – before returning to United to finish the season with Adam Lawrence’s U21 team.”
Therefore, the transition could be carried out
Surprisingly, Moorhouse was able to leave after the Premier League window closed. The reason is simple: the Scottish transfer window remains open until Thursday at 17:00 – and thus Dundee had the opportunity to secure the youngster at the last minute.
Now a tough start awaits Irish Moorhouse, who has represented Ireland at youth level. Already on Sunday, he could make his debut – when Dundee face last year’s runners-up in Scotland, Hearts, at Tynecastle Park.
For United, it’s about one thing: giving the biggest talents high-level match experience. For Moorhouse, it’s a golden opportunity to prove himself in top Scottish football.
