Manchester United have made contact with Club Brugge to secure Joaquin Seys – and are challenging Arsenal in the race for the Belgian left-back.
The Red Devils have prioritised midfield this summer with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while Karl Darlow and Tynan Thompson have also joined Michael Carrick’s squad. But with less than a month left of the window, there are still several pieces to be put in place.

Along with a new midfielder, United are also chasing a striker and a left-back. Lewis Hall in Newcastle is the main target, but the Magpies have ruled out a sale this summer. Now INEOS is looking towards other options.
– 35 million euros for the youngster
According to The Sun, Manchester United have sent a formal request to Club Brugge for 21-year-old Joaquin Seys. The Belgian impressed in the Champions League last season and secured a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad, where he played in the quarter-finals against Spain.
Now he has become a hot target at Old Trafford. However, Club Brugge are not in a selling mood and are said to have priced him at around €35 million (£30 million).

Arsenal have also shown interest and contacted the Belgian club. However, United are unlikely to be intimidated by the price tag – they are looking for a long-term solution at left-back, especially with Luke Shaw in the final year of his contract.
For now, it is unclear whether United will push for a deal now – or prioritize the funds for other positions. Arsenal, on the other hand, have given Mikel Arteta a thorough report on the defender, and believe he fits perfectly into their system.
Described as “top, top talent”
Seys already has 97 appearances for Brugge and is described as a “top, top talent”. He has a contract with his childhood club until 2029.

Leko: “He has no limitations”
Seys is still young, but has impressed greatly. In the World Cup, he mainly had a reserve role – but got 30 minutes against Spain in the quarter-finals. Directly against Lamine Yamal.
The club’s coach Ivan Leko is in no doubt:
“He may have only played thirty minutes in the World Cup, in the quarter-finals against Spain – but what a half hour it was! Joa did a fantastic job against Lamine Yamal, one of the world’s best players.
“I imagine that Seys will reach the top of the Premier League. In my opinion, he has no limitations. He has the talent, the character and, above all, the right mentality. He is often the first to arrive at training – and the last to leave.
