After securing Champions League play, Manchester United’s plans for next season are starting to take shape. Michael Carrick is now approaching the permanent manager’s job at Old Trafford, having been recommended by the club management – and with ten wins in 15 games as interim manager, it’s easy to see why. Now the focus is on the transfer market.

Although midfield is the top priority – with Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte waiting on their way out – a new left winger is also considered a key piece. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho have all been allowed to leave the club.

Before the last Premier League round this season, Manchester United are well placed in 3rd place, while Barcelona have won La Liga.

Marcus Rashford has no future at United
Despite a solid season on loan at Barcelona – where he scored the league championship in El Clásico and stands with 14 goals and 10 assists – Rashford is all but done at Old Trafford. Barcelona want to keep him and have an option to buy only £26 million, but the haggling is ongoing. If the Catalans don’t want to pay, United are adamant about the price. That could open the door for other clubs – and for United to turn the situation to their advantage.

Manchester United could use Marcus Rashford to sign Rafael Leão
Because reports suggest that Rafael Leão is a hot target at Old Trafford – worth around £60 million. AC Milan are open to releasing the Portuguese star, who has previously been called “world class” by Nani. Milan have also shown interest in Rashford before, and with Milan heading back to the Champions League, a swap deal could be in everyone’s interest.

The road so far for Rafael Leão:

  • Started his career at Sporting CP, before moving to Lille in 2018.
  • Made his breakthrough at AC Milan, where he became league champion in 2022 and was named Serie A MVP.
  • Has been linked to big clubs for several years – and now the trip can finally go to the Premier League.

United should take advantage of the situation: Rashford to Milan, Leão to Manchester. A swap deal that gives everyone what they want besides Marcus Rashford of course – and which can send shockwaves through Europe.
