Jose Mourinho has booked Enzo Fernandes for midfield – in the role of Aurelien Tchouameni. The Frenchman wants to stay, Real Madrid are not actively pushing for a sale, but Manchester United are still heavily linked with the French international for around £70 million. We have seen it before, where it starts as loose rumours, increases in strength – to end up with a “Casemiro signing”.
Manchester United’s midfield reinforcement is underway, with Michael Carrick replacing Ederson from Atalanta, but having to give up in the Elliot Anderson clash with Manchester City. Mateus Fernandes could also now be lost to Tottenham, who are going “all in” to secure the West Ham player.

This turns Man Utd back to Aurelien Tchouaman, with transfer journalist Nico Shira claiming Tchouameni is not in Mourinho’s starting eleven plans as it is now, and “could therefore leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.”
English journalist Ben Jacobs draws the analysis from United’s perspective:
“Tchouameni’s wages are not a problem in my opinion. Manchester United would be willing to make a player like him one of their best-valued. They are not in the category of salaries like Rashford or Sancho, but neither is Tchouameni.
“So I’m not aware that personal terms with Tchouameni would be an issue. The challenge is which midfielder Real will sign? Is it in Tchouameni’s position? Even if it’s not, are they bringing in enough money elsewhere, or do they need one big sale to make a bet on Enzo Fernandez? José Mourinho has said that he wants Enzo Fernandez, which is why talks are expected to start between Chelsea and Real Madrid. So I doubt Man Utd would back out of a potential Tchouameni deal [based] on wages. I think they would have some optimism that if the player really becomes available, it’s a move that can pay off.”
