Massimiliano Allegri saw red against Roma. Now the Napoli coach is suspended for two games

Allegri received a red card for his passionate protests after Leonardo Balerdi’s late equaliser during Napoli’s 3-3 draw with Roma was deemed legal, without the referee having to go to the monitor to review it with VAR.

Roy Keane is surprisingly promoted as the perfect manager for Manchester United

It was reported that he said to fourth referee Juan Luca Sacchi: ‘If you don’t dismiss this goal…’, before receiving a red card and then shouting angrily: ‘What did I say? Tell me what I said?’ after being given marching orders.

Napoli lost the win late in the weekend’s onslaught against Roma (3-3) in Naples.

The away team’s game-deciding equaliser was approved after a VAR review – and then the top lid went off on Massimiliano Allegri.

The Napoli coach shouted “no, no, no” and shook his fist at the fourth referee.

“The fourth referee called the referee, who sent me off. I didn’t say anything,” Allegri said after the match.

Now there are consequences. The 59-year-old is suspended for two games and thus misses the meetings with Monza and Juventus. He is also fined 10,000 euros (around 111,000 kroner).

“A two-match ban and a fine of 10,000 euros for making an insulting comment towards the match officials in the 45th minute of the second half, as well as for making a deeply disrespectful comment in the dressing rooms towards the same officials and showing aggressive behaviour towards a representative of the opposing team,” writes the Italian federation’s disciplinary board, according to Football Italia.

Napoli is appealing.

Scott Mctominay was the big profile of the match, with two goals and excellent play.
