He is 43 years old, but it is only two summers since Pepe ended his career at Portuguese big club Porto. Pepe has thus kept going as compatriot Ronaldo, now Jose Mourinho is calling up the former for a new position at Real Madrid, this time on the training ground and the sidelines.

Pepe wreaked havoc with the attacking players at the competition as a centre-back for Real Madrid between 2007 and 2017. Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, who follows Real Madrid closely, claims Pepe is part of the equation to become part of the staff when José Mourinho takes over at the Spanish capital club. De Mon describes the Pepe appointment as close, and the Portuguese media house Cabine Desportiva reports the same.
