The Portuguese attacking midfielder is wanted by several of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Juventus have placed Bruno Fernandes (31) at the top of their wish list in the summer market – after his contract extension with Manchester United has come to a halt. It is the signing “the old lady” hopes will secure them the Serie A title.

The Italian giants want to take advantage of a £57 million buyout clause – which applies to clubs outside England – in the Portuguese’s contract, which expires in June 2027. But the player’s high salary ambitions – estimated at between €50 million and €75 million – make the transfer complicated for Juventus.
Juventus want Bruno Fernandes – but the operation is demanding
A lack of Champions League qualification after a 6th place finish in Serie A limits Juventus’ financial freedom of action under Luciano Spalletti. The club does not currently have the financial space to meet the salary wishes of the Portuguese, who currently earns £250,000 a week in England – and who requires further improvements to leave Old Trafford.
In addition, CalcioMercato reports that Juventus consider the transfer difficult to carry out in the short term, due to the overall cost and the absence of the European group stage. Although the United management has put a proposal on the table for a contract extension, the £57 million buyout clause is still valid until a new deal is signed.
Galatasaray with alternative bid
The Turkish giants have also thrown themselves into the fray, reportedly offering an annual salary of £17 million – equivalent to £325,000 a week – by exploiting the favourable Turkish tax system to lure the Manchester United captain.
Nevertheless, the Istanbul club only plans to make a bid of £25 million – an amount that is unlikely to convince the United management.
Despite the interest in Juventus and the financial offer from Turkey, Fernandes is not considering a move to the Süper Lig at this point in his career – having already turned down offers from Saudi Arabia. He either prefers to play in the European football elite or secure his future in Manchester.
United are working on an extension
Representatives of Manchester United have scheduled new meetings during the last week of July 2026 to close the gaps in negotiations for a contract extension.
If talks with United management do not come to fruition, Juventus will keep Fernandes on their list of candidates – pending adjustments to their own salary budget before the transfer window closes.
