The Newcastle management should have known that when they signed Yoane Wissa in the summer. The club itself had had a lengthy and energy-draining process with Alexander Isak, who came into conflict with the club when he pushed for a transfer to Liverpool. Newcastle received their staggering £125 million, but at the same time saw that the latter part of the season and this summer’s pre-season on the super striker were completely devoid of quality until the transfer on September 1. At Brentford, Yoane Wissa had done something similar, pushing for a move to Newcastle.
Newcastle eventually accepted Brentford’s £55 million demand for the striker, the transfer fell into place 30 seconds before the transfer window closed. This meant that Wissa had spent a lot of his focus and energy on the transition, when this came, the player was anything but ready for the start of the season. At Liverpool, Alexander Isak experienced the same thing.
