On the bookmakers’ list of the favourite among Premier League managers to be sacked first is Michael Carrick. The saviour last season when Ruben Amorim had gotten stuck. Next on the list is Tottenham’s Roberto de Zerbi. On Saturday, the two meet in the sixth round of the Premier League. Former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe warns Man Utd management to take the plunge.
If Tottenham wins, the pressure on Carrick will increase considerably, but for Sharpe, sacking Carrick is simply not an option.

“It’s way too early to sack him. You would just start over with a different manager who wants different players. I don’t see the point of doing that now,” Sharpe begins, according to Teamtalk.
“The board has to take some responsibility. Tielemans was a good price and Baleba looks like a decent buy, but I think Carrick, the supporters and everyone around the club would have expected another one, two or possibly three signings. That said, the players have started slowly and sloppily and that needs to change. They need to play at a faster pace and move the ball faster,” Sharpe said.

This can be done with Carrick on the sidelines, Sharpe believes. All about the “match of fate” Manchester United – Tottenham.
