It is no surprise that striker Jabir Abdihakim Ali regrets that he went for a loan to Lillestrøm, who are now relegated to the OBOS-Liga, and that he also only got 40 minutes of playing time during the autumn in the Eliteserien.

He actually had a good time! Jabir Abdihakim Ali was a strong contributor to Västerås winning the Super League in 2023. The striker scored 14 goals as VSK took the step up to the top of Swedish football.

“It would have been a better decision to stay in Västerås,” the striker says to VLT.

However, his debut season in Allsvenskan was no rose for Abdihakim Ali. The spearhead had efficiency problems in front of goal and was noted for only one hit in 13 games during the spring. When VSK signed Viktor Granath in the striker position, Abdihakim Ali went out on loan for the rest of the season.

It didn’t go so well either: “A big club in Norway wanted me. Sold an aircraft well and did well in the Norwegian league. Of course, it was attractive in my situation. But the truth was that I wanted to stay in VSK. I wanted to fight for my place, but it didn’t turn out that way”

Lillestrøm ended up second to last in the Eliteserien with only 24 points, the last place went to Odd. – Must be a little special for head coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo to see that both Lillestrøm and his old club Odd are now down in the OBOS-Liga.

The loan period in Lillestrøm officially ends at the turn of the year and then Abdihakim Ali’s plan is to return to Västerås.

– I start from the contract I have with VSK and that I will train with the team when we start again. You never know if things will happen along the way, but that’s what I’m prepared for.

Jabir Abdihakim Ali has a contract with Västerås that runs until the end of the 2025 season.
