Tick-thanks, tick-thanks. Time is running out for Michael Carrick at Manchester United. A handful of candidates are fronted as prospective replacements, now there is a suggestion to just as easily bring in Roy Keane.

The United legend and grumpy is still one of the big profiles when it comes to talking about Manchester United. As captain, Keane whipped his United players to titles, as a coach it lasted with stints at Sunderland (2006-08) and Ipswich (2009-11). Then Keane probably realized he is better suited to barking out comments about players, coaches and clubs, than to be measured by his own results as a coach.

Djibril Cisse had Keane as coach at Sunderland, the Frenchman believes United legend Keane should get Michael Carrick’s job.

-Roy Keane has the weight of experience and history. He is a strong personality and he is an icon for the club. He wore the captain’s armband for so many years during United’s glory days, so it would be really good to bring him back, Cisse begins according to Teamtalk.

-I really enjoyed working with him because he didn’t judge me on what he had heard or what people would say about my character. He trusted me, it worked very well, and I was very disappointed when he left. He is a coach I loved working with and who I respect enormously, the former French player continues.

-We are quite similar. We are honest, we say things straight out, and when that is said, we move on. We are in. When I do something, I do it properly. When I say something, I mean it. He is like that too, and I really enjoyed my time with him, Cisse concludes.

Okay, Roy Keane’s candidacy has been put forward, but the only sure thing in the chaos at Manchester United is that it won’t be Roy Keane who leads Manchester United, neither now nor in the future. Fifteen years away from the match arena as a coach is definitely not what Man Utd need now.
