Sander Berge showed at the World Cup arena what capacity he has in the biggest arenas. Several Premier League clubs that have followed the development of the defensive midfielder on the ball island have the 28-year-old on their radar. This summer, Berge was linked to Manchester United for a period, now the BBC reports that the Norwegian international was also on the list of candidates in the blue part of London.
Chelsea were in a hurry shortly before the transfer window closed. Enzo Fernandez was sold to Manchester City, and therefore the London club were looking for a replacement in midfield.

Several options were explored here. The most specific was Lamine Camara, who Chelsea actually thought they had succeeded in buying. According to the BBC, there were also two other strong candidates. Manu Koné at Roma was one, the other was Sander Berge.
Enzo Fernandez was sold to City for £125 million and left a huge hole in the Blues‘ midfield, so Berge was considered as a potential candidate to fill that gap.

There was never any push from Chelsea for Berge’s signing, but when the Norwegian international is considered by two of England’s biggest clubs this summer, it says a lot about the position he has built up in the world’s toughest league. We love it!
