The Atletico Madrid management was guaranteed to have their jaws dropped when they saw “their” Julian Alvarez after Argentina’s game against Austria met the press, with a: “I mean, it’s best for everyone with a transfer. I want to make my dreams come true.”

The transfer the Atletico star is referring to is the one he is pushing for, to Atletico’s big rival Barcelona. This has caused the Atletico management to fire.

In an interview with Diario AS, a spokesperson from Atlético says that they are unhappy with the Catalan club’s methods: “There is no amount Barcelona can pay for Julián and he does not want to be transferred to Barcelona. Either they pay the buyout clause of 500 million euros, or nothing”.

According to AS, Atlético will file a complaint against Barcelona with FIFA’s sports court system for negotiating with a player under contract.

The 26-year-old has a contract with Atlético Madrid until the summer of 2030, the club has previously rejected Real Madrid’s bid and instead referred to the Argentine’s astronomical buyout clause.
