Cody Gakpo’s future at Liverpool appears to be one of the more interesting situations to follow this summer. TEAMtalk understands that the Dutchman is worried about his role under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Gakpo is unhappy with the prospect of being behind teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha in the hierarchy next season.

The 27-year-old is said to have expressed these concerns to people close to him. His camp is now working to investigate potential options elsewhere – should Liverpool be open to a departure.
Liverpool’s position is clear – for now
Liverpool’s position is still clear for now. The Reds do not actively want to sell Gakpo, and had no plans to move him this summer. But we understand that he is not seen as untouchable, and the club would listen if a significant bid arrived.
Gakpo’s situation has developed after a disappointing campaign at Anfield. Like several of Liverpool’s senior stars, the Dutchman struggled during the season – while also witnessing the remarkable rise of Ngumoha.
The teenage winger is internally regarded as one of the greatest talents the club has fostered in many years. Sources indicate that he is expected to become a cornerstone of Iraola’s plans going forward.
That outlook has created uncertainty for Gakpo. The former PSV Eindhoven star remains ambitious, and is not believed to be interested in accepting a reduced role in the squad at this stage of his career.
Eight clubs are chasing disappointing Liverpool star
Liverpool rejected an enquiry from Bayern Munich for Gakpo last summer, but interest in the striker has not gone away.
We can reveal that a number of clubs have now been made aware of his situation. Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are among the Premier League clubs that have been informed of the development. AC Milan and Atlético Madrid have also been approached by intermediaries exploring the market.
However, the interest is not limited to England, Spain and Italy. Turkish giants Beşiktaş and Fenerbahce have both been notified of Gakpo’s availability – should Liverpoolpold’s attitude change. We can also confirm that RB Leipzig has been made aware of the situation.

Liverpool could use Gakpo as bargaining chip in Diomandé hunt
Liverpool continue their pursuit of highly-rated winger Yan Diomandé, with sources suggesting that Gakpo’s situation could potentially become relevant as discussions between Liverpool and the Red Bull group continue.
As we’ve previously revealed, Liverpool are still determined to land Diomandé – despite RB Leipzig’s belief that the Ivorian will stay in Germany for another season.
For now, Gakpo is still a Liverpool player, and the club is not actively seeking a sale. But with Ngumoha’s role growing, Iraola’s preparations for a new era at Anfield and interest emerging from all over Europe, the Dutch winger’s future is becoming increasingly uncertain.
