The free agent market can be the salvation for clubs that lack money.
The free agents continue to field an eleven with names that as of September 29, 2026, are still out of contract. The team includes Jadon Sancho, Joselu, Karim Benzema, Dani Carvajal, Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen, among others, who have all ended their last contract terms in recent months. The transfer market in Spain is watching closely as these players can sign for any club.

The total market value of this eleven is set at €49.3 million, with Sancho having the highest value with €18 million. The Englishman is still free after ending his partnership with Manchester United and the subsequent loan spell at Aston Villa.
Free agents: Sancho and Joselu lead the attack
Jadon Sancho, a 26-year-old winger, stands out as one of the top attacking names. During his loan spell at Aston Villa in the 2025/26 season, he made 23 Premier League appearances with two assists, and is now looking for a new place after becoming a free agent from Manchester United.
Also in the attacking line is Riyad Mahrez, 35, who left Al Ahli in July. The Algerian finished his time in Saudi Arabia with 122 appearances, 37 goals and 46 assists, as well as two consecutive AFC Champions League Elite titles.
At the head of the attack is Joselu, a 36-year-old striker who ended his contract with Al-Gharafa on June 30. In his last season in Qatar, he scored 10 goals, and Valencia are still considering him as an option to bolster their attack without paying a transfer fee.
Another attacking position is occupied by Karim Benzema, 38 years old, who became a free agent on August 31 after mutual agreement with Al Hilal to end his contract that originally lasted until June 2027.
Dani Carvajal, a 34-year-old right-back, ended his time at Real Madrid at the end of the 2025/26 season. The club confirmed on May 18 that both parties had agreed to end their contractual relationship.
Carvajal’s future remains open. In September, intermediaries offered the Spanish player to Liverpool, Manchester City and Fulham, while reports also pointed to contacts with clubs from Spain, MLS and Saudi Arabia.
The centre-back pair consists of Francesco Acerbi, 38 years old, and Sergio Ramos, 40 years old. Acerbi’s contract with Inter expired in June after 26 games in his final season in Milan. Ramos, on the other hand, has been without a club since leaving Monterrey in December 2025, and in September he was linked with a possible move to Aston Villa.
On the left flank we find Raphaël Guerreiro, a 32-year-old player whose departure from Bayern Munich was confirmed when his contract expired in the summer. The Portuguese finished his time in Germany with 89 games, 12 goals and eight assists.
Pogba and Eriksen complete midfield
The midfield consists of Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen. The Frenchman, 33, ended his contract with Monaco on August 19, despite the deal originally lasting until June 2027.
Eriksen became one of the last free agents on the market after parting ways with Wolfsburg on September 23. The Dane, 34 years old, played 34 games, scored 3 goals and provided 10 assists in his final season.
In goal is Sergio Rico, 33, who is still without a club after leaving Al-Gharafa. With the transfer windows closed in the major European leagues, these free agents can still negotiate signings outside of the regular registration periods – when the rules of each individual competition allow it.
