Spurs have agreed one of the Premier League’s most in-form defenders ahead of the summer transfer window – but the transfer is dependent on them staying in the Premier League.
With two games left in the 2025/26 season, Tottenham are just two points ahead of third-placed West Ham.

It has been a disastrous season for the north London club, who have won nine out of a possible 36 games in the Premier League. Relegation is still a possibility before the remaining games against Chelsea and Everton.
West Ham may have a tougher time, on Sunday they travel to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle and the following Sunday they host Leeds at the London Stadium.
However, if they manage to secure their place at the end of the month, Roberto De Zerbi could have one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs available when next season starts.
On Friday, it was confirmed that Marcos Senesi will leave Bournemouth when his contract expires at the end of June.
Sensi’s numbers this season are remarkable. Not only does he have the third most ball repossessions of any player in the Premier League, but he has also recorded more passes into the final third than any other player.
In fact, he is so forward-leaning that he has played more interception passes (242) than William Saliba and Gabriel combined. A whopping 53.5 percent of his passes go forward in the field.
Unsurprisingly, Senesi has been linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Newcastle.
But as of now, Spurs are the only club to have agreed the terms with the Argentine defender, according to journalist Ben Jacobs – although the transfer will only happen if they salvage their place in the Premier League.
Bournemouth confirm Sensi’s departure – the stopper himself speaks out
On Friday, Bournemouth confirmed that the 29-year-old will leave the Vitality Stadium in the summer.
A statement read: “We can confirm that Marcos Senesi will leave the club in the summer when his contract expires, thus ending four memorable years on the south coast.
“Since joining from Feyenoord in 2022, the centre-back has been a key figure in one of the club’s most successful periods.
“With his command presence at the heart of the defence, he has made 124 appearances for the Cherries and played an important role in helping the club cement its place in the Premier League.
“During the club’s record-breaking 2024/25 season, Senesi was an important part of the squad that achieved the club’s highest ever Premier League points tally (56 points), while also helping the team finish ninth.
“Over the years, the defender has scored crucial goals in historic victories over Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion, and he has also been instrumental in the team’s 11 clean sheets so far this season.”
On his departure, Senesi said: “From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this club. I’m proud of everything we achieved during those four years, and I’m grateful for the support the fans have always given me.
“AFC Bournemouth will always have a special place in my heart and I will look back on my time here with fond memories. For now, there are two big games left in the season and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
