Cody Gakpo was a giant in Arne Slot’s debut season at Liverpool, which ended with a Premier League title. This season, the Dutchman has struggled with the rest of the Liverpool squad (with some exceptions), in March  Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard stated that Slot should substitute teenager Rio Ngumoha and put Gakpo on the bench. In the World Cup, Gakpo has shown himself from a more effective side (two goals against Sweden), but now it smells of exit.

Because according to transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, Gakpo has sent “positive signals” for a move to Tottenham this summer. It is not known if Liverpool are actually ready to sell, but according to the transfer journalist, Tottenham are ready to make a bid for the Dutchman, with the London club waving a contract until the summer of 2031.

It is Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi who has brought Gakpo to the club, as a perfect piece for the attacking football Tottenham will deliver next season. At the same time, there are rumours that Gakpo has told Liverpool management that he wants to move on after Slot was sacked, and he himself believes his role at Iraola will be smaller.
