Two years in a row in 17th place in the Premier League! – Never again. Tottenham’s very hectic summer activity shows no signs of slowing down. – Now a gigantic bid was improved that the owners ENIC have given the green light to despite rumours of the sale of the club and subsequent lack of commitment.
Newly appointed manager Roberto De Zerbi has already received a solid boost with a couple of big signings, as Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have come in early in the window as free agents.

A deal has also been agreed with Brighton to sign Jan Paul van Hecke to further strengthen the defensive line, while talks are ongoing to sign Savinho from Manchester City this summer.
With almost every position covered so far, it stands to reason that the next area of focus is midfield, where Tottenham need more quality in possession.
The main target for that role appears to be Sandro Tonali, as Spurs have thrown themselves into the race for the Italian international.
Tottenham prepare bid for Sandro Tonali
Tottenham are showing interest in Tonali this summer, and they have entered a race filled with rivals positioning themselves to secure the Newcastle star.
Reports of a possible sale of the “world-class” 26-year-old have only increased interest from clubs, while the Seagulls are sticking to a price tag of around £100 million to approve a transfer.
While other teams sit and wait for a move, Tottenham are proactive and ready to put a huge amount on the table – but not quite up to the valuation of their Premier League rivals.
Journalist Alfredo Pedullà claims that the Lilywhites are preparing a bid in the region of £85 million for Tonali, in the hope that it can secure a deal.
Roberto De Zerbi is said to already have a good relationship with Tonali, which has led him to prioritise Spurs over other potential transfers this summer.
It remains to be seen whether that can change with involvement from other clubs, and it is unclear whether Newcastle will be willing to sell for a price lower than their original valuation.
Tottenham must exploit Tonali advantage
Tottenham are in a strong position to secure Tonali – not because of their recent league finishes, but because of the quick work they are already doing in the transfer market.
Rivals like Arsenal and Manchester City are either sitting around waiting for other deals or have yet to move to land the star.
Tottenham’s quick thinking when it comes to fixing other problem positions means that they can move on to Tonali relatively quickly, which could give them a midfielder they would not otherwise secure.
The association with De Zerbi means that there is likely to be an immediate confidence from the Italian international, which could also be decisive for the choice he makes.
It’s a move that might not have been possible otherwise, especially with the competition to sign him. That means Tottenham can’t afford to miss him.
Tonali’s quality with the ball and his off-the-ball ability allow Spurs to get a complete midfielder who can give them the calmness in the centre of the pitch that has been lacking.
It remains to be seen if they will be able to secure a deal, but it is a transfer that the club cannot let slip away now that they have him in their sights.
