The Brazilian player’s lackluster performances at Real Madrid keep him off the list of the highest-valued players at the moment.
Vinicius, a 26-year-old striker, is in the news at Real Madrid because his market value has dropped to €130 million in the latest update from Transfermarkt. The Brazilian has lost another €10 million after that and has seen a decrease of €70 million from the €200 million he reached in 2024.

The decline coincides with a start to the season in which he has also failed to regain his best form under José Mourinho. Vinicius has scored one goal in eight games – his worst goalscoring start since his first season in Spain, in the 2018/19 season – and was unable to change the dynamic during the last international break with Brazil.
Vinicius goes from 200 to 130 million euros
The evolution of his valuation reflects the change that has taken place since the end of 2024. Transfermarkt had valued Vinicius at €200 million – a figure that at the time made him the joint most valuable player in the world alongside Erling Haaland.
Two years later, the valuation has dropped to 130 million. That’s 70 million less, a 35 percent reduction from the top – even though the striker is still among the ten players with the highest market value.
His most recent decline has been at 10 million. In the June 2026 update, Transfermarkt still placed the Real Madrid player at 140 million, after other negative adjustments since the end of 2024.
The sporting context contributes to this depreciation. Vinicius has scored just one goal in eight games this season and scores every 652 minutes – figures that explain part of the loss of value recorded in recent months.
José Mourinho maintains confidence in Vinicius
His performances for Brazil also did not bring about the expected change. Vinicius was in the starting eleven for the three friendlies the national team played during the October tour, although his offensive contribution was far from his best performance.
Against Australia, he managed to score on penalties, but later admitted that he needed to regain his confidence. In the match against India, he was substituted at half-time, in a game Brazil won 4-0.
At Real Madrid, José Mourinho publicly maintains his support. The coach considers the Brazilian a key player in his planning and is working to restore his performance, although he also has options like Yan Diomande to change the attack. Mourinho has already identified what Vinicius’ fault is.
In addition, the contract situation was resolved during the summer. The club announced on August 6, 2026 the renewal of the Brazilian until June 30, 2032, extending in the long term a relationship that started when he arrived in Spain in 2018.
Since the renewal, he has not performed well
The new contract now coincides with a different sporting scenario than in 2024. Mbappé has taken on a bigger goalscoring role, and Vinicius no longer monopolizes the offensive weight he had before the Frenchman’s arrival.
The next step for Vinicius will be to translate José Mourinho’s support into action on the pitch. After the international break, the fixture schedule puts the Brazilian back in a position to seize the opportunity to restore offensive production – and stop a drop in value that has now reached €70 million from the top.
