The Red Dragons’ owners aren’t just cheering on the big screen anymore – now they can send shockwaves throughout the Championship.
Wrexham are reportedly ready to smash their own transfer record in the final stretch of the transfer window – with one of the most sensational moves the division has ever seen.

The Red Dragons narrowly abused their play-off opportunity on the final day of the season, eventually finishing two points behind Hull City, who eventually won promotion qualifying.
The 2026/27 season is already underway with two 1-1 draws against Cardiff and Watford respectively.
Already spent NOK 16 million – but they are not finished
Wrexham have already spent around €18 million in this window on three players: full-back Danny Imray from Crystal Palace, goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from Sunderland and midfielder Ben Whiteman from Preston North End.
The Patterson deal in particular is causing a stir – the sum is said to be at least £8 million, which is already a new club record for the team owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
But they are hardly finished yet.
Manager Phil Parkinson revealed that he had a “great chat with Rob and Ryan” before Saturday’s game against Watford.
“No guarantee that there will be more signings,” he emphasized cautiously.
“The players we are chasing are also wanted by other clubs in the division – and in other leagues around Europe.
“These are the type of players who can make a difference,” he added.
And their latest trillion-dollar dream would definitely fill that description.

Chasing Lyon’s top scorer – in record trade
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Wrexham are planning to make a record bid for Czech Republic international midfielder Pavel Sulc from Ligue 1 giants Lyon.
The 25-year-old Sulc netted 11 goals in French top-flight football last season – and was thus Lyon’s top scorer along with Corentin Tolisso.
He is an attacking midfielder by nature, but can also be used as a striker or pull further down the pitch if needed.
Earlier this summer, he was linked with Premier League club Leeds, but the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper wrote that Daniel Farke’s side were not “actively chasing a deal”.
After playing in the World Cup, Sulc lost almost all of Lyon’s pre-season due to a knee problem. Manager Paulo Fonseca stated at the beginning of August that the Czech was not guaranteed to stay after the transfer deadline.
“There are alternatives out there,” Fonseca said.
“We really appreciate him here – he had an outstanding season last year.
“I can’t say now whether he will stay or leave. Pavel’s value is very high, and all clubs in Europe will follow him closely.
Lyon are still fighting for a place in this year’s Champions League, and qualify if they beat Fenerbahce in the second leg of the play-offs – after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
According to Foot Mercato, Lyon values Sulc at least €25 million. That is almost three times as much as Wrexham’s current transfer record.
The amount would have been a new record for the entire Championship – until West Ham last week forked out £22 million for midfielder Arne Engels from Celtic.
Admittedly, that sum was made possible by West Ham selling key players – plus many years of Premier League TV revenue – but it still shows how much money the top clubs in the Championship now feel they have to spend to fight for promotion.
