There were probably many who were stunned, when Chelsea flipped up a wild £117 million for Morgan Rogers. One was the award for the Aston Villa star, the other that Morgan plays in the same position as Cole Palmer. Chelsea coach Xabi Alonso smiles slyly when asked the question.

“We needed a profile in that position, and I’m sure there weren’t many better options than Morgan Rogers,” Alonso begins, according to the BBC.

“You need players who can deliver from the start, and I’m sure Morgan will quickly settle down in the club, the system and with his teammates. That was the plan: to bring in a top player, and Morgan is just that,” Alonso continues.

Then came the question of why Rogers now they already have Palmier in the same position.

“I have a plan. I have an idea. I can see that the two can work very well together, says Alonso wisely.

Who knows Palmer and Rogers have known each other since they were fourteen (English youth teams and Manchester City academy) and come in already with a close relationship.

We sense a new super duo in the Premier League.
