Disturbing news from Yibing Wu’s camp. A tennis player loses consciousness again during a match. The situation occurs a few weeks after fainting at Wimbledon. Wu withdraws from the tournament.
Yibing Wu was forced to withdraw from the Mubadala Citi DC Open. The tennis player fainted on the court. A similar situation with his participation occurred at this year’s Wimbledon.
This time, Yibing Wu fell down, confused, and slumped into his chair. The 23-year-old competed at the Mubadala Citi DC Open and played well before returning to his chair and slumping onto the court. Then Wu bent his head towards the court and sat down as the medics rushed to his aid, with no hope of continuing the match as his health became a priority.
This is not the first time the world’s number 90 player has suffered from health problems this summer, following concerns during his match with Frances Tiafoe at Wimbledon. In July, during a game against the American, medics treated Wu after he bent his head in a chair and his pulse was 187. The tennis player announced that he would go to the doctor for a detailed check-up.
In his career in 2022, Wu became the first Chinese male player to qualify for the US Open.
