Legendary football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has overlooked both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain when he has pointed out who he thinks will win the 2026/27 Champions League title.

The two teams met in last year’s final, with Luis Enrique’s side eventually winning and securing PSG’s second straight title win – the club that had never won a European title before this decade.

While it currently seems like no one can stop “Les Parisiens” – with the Gunners as their biggest challengers after improving and winning their first Premier League title in 22 years – Zlatan has raised some eyebrows by suggesting that another club, which is currently on its own hiatus, could come out of the shadows and reach the top of Europe again.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes his prediction for the 2026/27 Champions League title

During a recent feature on ESPN, the retired striker – who is considered one of the greatest of all time after stints at Inter Milan, AC Milan and PSG, among others – was asked a number of prediction questions.

He chose Lamine Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of the likes of Harry Kane, Manchester City to continue their early-season form and win the Premier League (unless there are points deductions this season), and Barcelona to win both La Liga and the Champions League.

Should the “Blaugrana” win Europe’s most prestigious trophy again, it would be their sixth triumph. But despite their reputation among the world’s best football clubs, they have not received the honour since 2015 – a time when Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez were still in Catalonia.

Although Zlatan didn’t get the chance to explain his choice, many believe that the acquisition of 2024 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri will get the best out of the rest of the team. Meanwhile, Raphinha is in the form of his life at the top of the pitch, already having 15 goal involvements in just seven La Liga games.

Zlatan’s Premier League and Champions League predictions come with doubts

In a bombshell week for football, both Man City and Barcelona are under intense investigation, which could render Zlatan’s predictions worthless if UEFA and the Premier League decide to ban the two clubs from the competitions.

Although the “Cityzens” are expected to know the punishment in early 2027 after breaching 115 financial rules, Real Madrid released a series of explosive statements confirming that they had sent more evidence to UEFA and La Liga in connection with the Negreira case, where the club paid the refereeing body in exchange for favorable decisions.

Both clubs now face a range of possible sanctions, from hefty fines and points deductions to expulsion from competitions. It’s a strange world in football right now, but there’s no doubt that they’re still favourites if they manage to avoid being dragged deeper into trouble.
