Arsenal have reached a personal agreement with Vinícius Júnior, the 26-year-old Real Madrid winger, and will begin direct negotiations between the clubs during the summer window. The Gunners are close to completing the signing – following a clear desire from Mikel Arteta.

Transfermarkt believes Vinicius Junior is now worth €140 million, down to €200 million from the top, while things were rosy both at Real Madrid and for Brazil. (Most expensive Declan Rice from West Ham 90 million euros)

Arsenal are ready with the ‘red carpet’ for Antonio Nusa

The London club want to complete the transfer for the Brazilian international, whose contract expires in June 2027. The transfer is expected to be the most expensive in Arsenal’s history.

Arteta’s plan of attack

According to Hand of Arsenal , Mikel Arteta envisions Vinícius as the key player in his attack – in a trio alongside Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz. The 26-year-old scored 22 goals and provided 14 assists in official matches for Real Madrid last season.

Arsenal’s management is speeding up the process due to the player’s contract situation in Spain. With the personal agreement in place, the club will now focus on negotiating the final transfer fee with Real Madrid – before the season starts.

Real Madrid’s position

Real Madrid’s management is willing to approve a sale of Vinícius this summer. He only has 12 months left on his contract – and shows no interest in extending under current conditions. In addition, he is no longer considered indispensable in José Mourinho’s plans for 2026/27.

The Spanish club’s decision is also about finances – they do not want Vinícius to enter his last six months of contract in January 2027, and thus be able to leave the club for free.

Arsenal’s first bid will surpass the club’s previous record transfer.

Meetings in August

Leading figures from Arsenal and Real Madrid will begin direct club discussions in early August 2026. The aim for both parties is to agree on the price by August 15 – so that Vinícius can be integrated into Arteta’s training sessions before the Premier League kicks off.
