It took some time for Manchester United to come up with a new deal with Turkish club Trabzonspor for a new deal. – There was an argument about percentages and this time it was smart of the bosses at Old Trafford to take the time to help.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper wanted a return to Manchester United, but it didn’t work out, even though many have been fired, there are still many who remember how bad things went the last time he was the first goalkeeper.

Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana will also play for Trabzonspor on loan this coming season – after a successful spell in Turkey last season.
The 30-year-old made 40 appearances for the Turkish giants during his loan spell in the 2025/26 season, and contributed greatly to Trabzonspor finishing third in the league – while also securing the Turkish Cup.
The agreement between the clubs means that Trabzonspor will cover Onana’s entire salary – despite it increasing as a result of United qualifying for the Champions League. The Turkish club also pays an undisclosed loan amount, which also includes several different bonuses.
Manchester United confirmed the deal with a brief statement:
Onana has made 102 appearances for United since arriving from Inter in the summer of 2023, in a transfer worth over half a billion Norwegian kroner. His contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028, but it is clear that the goalkeeper has no future at the club.
He lost his place in the starting eleven at the start of last season to Altay Bayındır, before Senne Lammens was brought in as the new first goalkeeper. Thus, the road back to United’s goal is closed – and Turkey will once again be the solution for the Cameroonian.
