“I always win a title in the second season”. This was the promise Ange Postecoglou made to Tottenham supporters. The Australian kept his promises with the historic Europa League title, but had never said anything about the club finishing just above the relegation zone in the Premier League. There was an exit for the former Celtic coach. Thomas Frank and “savior” Igor Tudor, showed this season that Tottenham are actually a bottom team. Now Roberto de Zerbi will lift Spurs back to performance in the world’s toughest league, Postecoglou takes the job of managing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Postecoglou made a guest appearance as Nottingham Forest manager in the autumn of 2025, but eight games without a win prompted Forest owner Marinakis to press the panic button and sack Postecoglou.

On Saturday, Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian club announced that Postecoglou has been hired as the new coach on a six-year contract. Jorge Jesus led the club to the league title – and celebrated by retiring as a coach. Now the Australian will meet expectations of back-to-back.
