There is clearly more to come from the Norwegian international striker Alexander Sørloth came off the bench and scored a 2-1 win for Atlético Madrid at home against Alavés in La Liga.

Last season, Sørloth landed in 2nd place on La Liga’s top scorer list, after the transfer to Atletico Madrid it has been quieter and actually a lot of bench wear.

On Saturday, Sørloth was the match winner and if we are to believe his statements after the game, there will be more: “Goals are like ketchup. When you start scoring, you keep going. I had a good feeling before the game. Good passes from my teammates also help. I’m very happy”

The game was 85 minutes old when Sørloth was played through in the 16-meter. With his right foot, he hammered the ball into the near corner, and the turnaround was complete.

Jon Guridi scored first for Alavés. Antoine Griezmann equalized a quarter of an hour before the end after Sørloth scored a penalty. Then the Norwegian arranged a great atmosphere ten minutes later.

Atlético boss Diego Simeone got carried away in the celebration and picked up a yellow card.

Sørloth joined the capital club this summer from Villarreal. So far, he has seven starts and seven substitutes after the first 14 games for the big team. The goal against Alavés was the fifth of the season.

There is a difference between Villarreal and Atlético Madrid’s star gallery. This has had an impact on Sørloth’s playing time.

“When I substituted Sørloth, I thought it could be a goal. We are used to such movements from him,” Simeone said, according to Marca.

“Yesterday we had a nice chat about what he can contribute, whether it’s for 5, 20 or 90 minutes,” Simeone added.
