This is not good news for Liverpool fans who live in a completely different world than Jeff Bezos who is currently the world’s fourth richest person.
Jeff Bezos on his way into Liverpool? “Everything we know so far”
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been approached by a consortium looking to buy into Liverpool – and one key investor has already resigned from his role at QPR.

Liverpool are once again the subject of transfer speculation – but this time it’s not about players. According to reports, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been asked to invest in the English big club.
Bezos, 62, is the world’s fourth richest man with a fortune of a staggering $257 billion, according to Forbes. He has never been involved with a sports club before – and rumors of interest in NBA team Boston Celtics were quickly dismissed by his representatives back in 2024.
But now Liverpool could be in his spotlight.

Consortium led by former QPR owner
Sky News’ city editor Mark Kleinman reports that Bezos has been contacted by a consortium led by Amit Bhatia – longtime co-owner and board member of Queens Park Rangers. Bhatia has recently stepped down from his roles at QPR, which is causing a stir.
According to Kleinman, the consortium is exploring the possibility of buying into Liverpool with a minority stake of around 30 percent. It would still give the current owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), control of the club.
A spokesperson for FSG confirmed to Sky News that Bhatia’s group has shown interest:
“An investment consortium led, managed and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club.
Valuation of up to NOK 60 billion
It is expected that a possible deal will be between USD 4.5 and 6 billion – i.e. up to NOK 60 billion. Liverpool is currently valued at $4.6 billion by Forbes, beaten only by Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
That makes this one of the biggest potential investments in football history.
FSG stays in control – no matter what
In a video on his YouTube channel, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that FSG have no intention of relinquishing control of Liverpool – even if negotiations with Bhatia’s group were to continue.
“Talks are ongoing with Fenway Sports Group. For now, there are preliminary talks, because FSG have no intention of selling the majority of Liverpool Football Club. They remain in control and are very clear about planning with Liverpool for both the present and the future,” Romano said.
Liverpool’s main owner John W. Henry has previously stated that FSG are open to external investment in the club. In 2023, an agreement was already made with the investment company Dynasty Equity, which bought in between 1.9 and 3.8 percent of the club.
Consortium leader resigned on Wednesday night
On Tuesday evening – shortly before the news of Bezos’ possible involvement became known – QPR confirmed in an official statement that Bhatia had resigned from his roles as co-owner and board member of the club. Bhatia, who joined QPR in 2007, has transferred his stake to the club’s majority owner Ruben Gnanalingam.
Bhatia was chairman of QPR from 2016 to 2023 and worked closely with manager Neil Warnock when the club was promoted to the Premier League in 2011. He resigned as deputy chairman at the time following a price increase on season tickets – a detail that may be of interest to Liverpool supporters, given FSG’s recent price increases.
“I leave my formal duties with pride, gratitude and warmth. I would like to thank the players, managers, staff, Community Trust, my fellow board members – and above all the supporters – who have made me and my family feel part of the QPR family for so many years. QPR will always have a very special place in my heart,” Bhatia said in a statement.
What now?
Currently, everything is at the stage of initial talks. Bezos has not spoken himself, and FSG emphasizes that they are not in the process of selling the club. Still, the interest from a consortium with one of the world’s richest men is a clear signal that Liverpool – both on and off the pitch – is still one of the most attractive clubs in the world.
