Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has reportedly been contacted by a consortium that wants to invest in Liverpool. But how rich is he really – and where does he end up on the list of Premier League giants?

Willing to break salary rules for Pep Guardiola
Bezos has reportedly discussed joining an investor syndicate led by former QPR co-owner Amit Bhatia – the son-in-law of steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal. On Tuesday, Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool’s majority shareholders, confirmed the interest from Bhatia’s consortium:
“An investment consortium led, managed and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club.”
The 62-year-old has previously considered bids for the NFL teams Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders, but chose not to move forward with either of them. There is also no guarantee that he will move on with Liverpool. A source tells Sky News that “he’s not sure about going ahead with an investment” – but if he does, the supporters will probably cheer.
Bezos has accumulated a fortune of a staggering $256 billion (around £192 billion) since he founded Amazon in 1994. That makes him the world’s fourth richest man, behind Elon Musk and Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

PIF took over for Mike Ashley in October 2021 for £305 million. Since then, they have increased their stake to 85 percent – and are by far the Premier League’s richest owners.
