RB Leipzig has been through a rollercoaster week. First the lead-heavy 4-1 loss against Como and Cesc Fabregas, then Sunday’s restoration at home with a 5-0 win against Hamburger SV. Antonio Nusa stood back as “Man of the Match” with his goal and two assists. In an interview with German media, the Norwegian international talks about this, that and the suitcase from the World Cup that was packed full of confidence.
After Sunday’s win, RB Leipzig are fifth in the Bundesliga table with six points from their first three games. Bulinews.com had a chat with Antonio Nusa after his “Man of the Match” performance.

“It feels good. We want to win every game and of course we have had two difficult games (losses against Werder Bremen and Como) now, but to be able to come back with a 5-0 win is very good,” Nusa begins to the German medium.
Looking back on his preparations for the match, the 21-year-old believes that head coach Martin Demichelis found the right balance between not dwelling on the recent defeats and making the necessary adjustments.
“It’s easy to look too much into the past when you’ve just lost two games. It’s difficult, but [Demichelis] said we should look forward. Today we had to perform, and we did. I think he had a good balance between not thinking too much about the past, but attacking this situation today, and that’s what we did,” Nusa continues.

Nusa has enjoyed his time with the new coach, Demichelis so far, and describes the collaboration with the Argentine coach as “fantastic”.
“I really like his passion and his outlook on the game,” Nusa revealed, adding:
“The energy is nice, he binds us in a good way. I feel good about him, and hopefully he’s happy with me too.”
Demichelis certainly has good reason to be pleased with Nusa, who have had an impressive start to the season with three goals and two assists in their first five games. With this, he has already come within reach of reaching the record from last season, when he scored five goals and four assists in 35 games.
“I always believe in my qualities,” Nusa said when asked about his strong start to the season.
“Maybe I didn’t get the result I deserved last season, but I’m working hard and I’m just trying to help and score as much as possible.”

Despite still being only 21 years old, the Norwegian international is now entering his third season at Red Bull Arena and acknowledges that his growing experience also comes with greater responsibility.
“Absolutely. I think it’s normal. I have a lot of experience now. I also played in the World Cup, so I’m trying to take that with me and help the team as much as possible,” Nusa concludes.
