The Atletico Madrid management suffered a setback when their biggest attacking asset, Julian Alvarez, stated during the World Cup that: “I think it’s the best thing for everyone with a transfer. I want to make my dreams come true.” What the Argentine was referring to was a move to Barcelona. The Atletico management responded by taking a hard line against the way Barcelona have proceeded “behind their backs”, they could guarantee that there will be no sale to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. This opens the door for the reigning Premier League champions.
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly made bids for the 26-year-old, both bids were flatly rejected. Arsenal have expressed their interest in it over the past year, but have realized Barcelona were in pole position. Until now.

According to The Independent , the Gunners are hoping and aiming to sign Julian Alvarez before preseason. Alvarez should not be dismissive of Arsenal, although he prefers a transfer to either Real Madrid or Barcelona. This means that the Arsenal management still believe they can land a deal with the Argentine with Barcelona and Real Madrid out of the picture.
That is, if the condo club is willing to pull up around £100 million for the former Manchester City player.
