Before the season that ended with the Premier League title, Arsenal were very active in the transfer market, especially in midfield. Zubimendi and Eze were brought in, many probably also surprised that Arteta needed Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard. The Dane led Brentford to a brilliant final season with Thomas Frank in the 2024/25 season, where Nørgaard was on the pitch for almost 3000 minutes in the Premier League. At Arsenal, the Dane has won a Premier League title, but “without” his participation.

It ended with 101 minutes in the Premier League arena over the course of an entire season. The 32-year-old has been given playing time in cups and the Champions League, but his chances of playing in the PL next season are rather slim. According to The Athletic , Arsenal have now opened up for bids for the Dane.

Arsenal open for sale of Christian Nørgaard

Arteta and the reigning Premier League champions are anything but unhappy with the Dane’s performances as a “valued and influential member of the squad”, but understand Nørgaard’s desire for more playing time in the series.

Nørgaard recently decided to retire from the national team, has a contract until 2027 with Arsenal with an option for one more year.
