Liverpool secured terrier Alexis Mac Allister after he became world champion at the 2022 World Cup. The Argentine went straight in and took on one of the big roles in midfield, was outstanding in the season that brought the Premier League title, but delivered far below expectations last season. We now know that there was a lot that didn’t work out with Slot’s second season, but Liverpool fans got to see Mac Allister in the World Cup this summer, back as they remembered him. A handful of the biggest clubs are chasing the Argentine’s signing, but Liverpool supporters can breathe a sigh of relief.
According to Caughtoffside’s sources , Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid have expressed interest in Mac Allister earlier this summer, while Chelsea and Manchester City have also made contact in recent weeks. In other words, signals that the Argentine may be available have been picked up.

Liverpool cannot afford to lose their midfield engine before the start of the season – nor do they intend to do so. According to Caughtoffiside’s sources , Liverpool will open talks later this year with Mac Allister over a new contract. With two years left on his current contract, Liverpool want to underline his importance to the squad and keep him as a central figure in their long-term project, it is reported.
Mac Allister’s representatives and Liverpool are said to have rejected all approaches from the suitors. His father, who also acts as his agent, confirmed that leaving the club was never considered and that the player will remain at Liverpool. This effectively closed the door on any transfer this summer.
