Xabi Alonso, after a troubled start to the season, has got Chelsea back on track. – After 7 games, they have climbed up to 4th place in the Premier League.

Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Nico Paz, who was the big profile on the pitch when Manchester United were crushed in the Champions League midweek, according to Italian media. But the Blues will face competition from two big clubs – among them Arsenal.

Top candidate to replace Carrick is actually not interested in managing Manchester United

Since leaving Real Madrid for Como in the summer of 2024, Paz has established himself as one of the world’s best young attacking midfielders. The 22-year-old has scored 23 goals and provided 22 assists in 85 appearances for the Serie A club so far in his career.

Paz has also established himself in the Argentina squad and has been predicted to be Lionel Messi’s successor as the country’s number 10.

Como’s sporting director Carlalberto Ludi told Sky Sport Italia: “Nico Paz is world-class, both in terms of work ethic and talent.

“He knows a player has to deserve it every day, but he definitely has what it takes to take that role and I wish him the brightest possible future.”

On Wednesday, Paz blew away the Italian press with his performance for Como in the 4-1 win over Manchester United at home in the Champions League. The international scored two goals and provided one assist.

Now it has emerged that Chelsea – who hired former Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso as manager in the summer of 2026 – are keen on a deal for Paz in 2027.

Chelsea are chasing Nico Paz

TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Chelsea are monitoring the youngster and are not afraid to bet big on him.

The report from the Italian media states: “Nico is on a new path, also personally: he is growing physically and athletically.

“He may have lost 5% of his shine, but he’s regained it in muscle, center of gravity, endurance, and strength.

“And this is certainly something that appeals – and not just a little – to the big European clubs, because this is the direction modern football is taking: class and pure technique combined with strong physique.

“That’s why Europe’s big clubs are constantly monitoring him.

“In their last league games in Serie A, and even in the Champions League, the Blues players have been watching him closely, both at De Kuip and during the last game in Florence.

“The costs? Extremely high, as Como paid 60 million euros for him.

“Real Madrid have an exclusive €80 million buy-back deal set for the summer of 2027, otherwise they will receive a percentage of the resale price.

“In other words: if Chelsea want Paz, they have to pay dearly – especially since part of the revenue goes to Los Blancos anyway.

“But the Blues (and they’re not the only ones) continue to monitor him, game after game…”

Arsenal and Real Madrid interested in Nico Paz

Paz is one of the world’s best young strikers, and it would be surprising if only Chelsea had taken an interest in him.

Premier League champions Arsenal and LaLiga giants Real Madrid are also said to be keen on a deal for Paz in 2027.

Last month, Bernabéu Digital reported that Arsenal want to sign Paz from Como.

The Real Madrid-oriented media claimed that the north London club could make a push for the Argentine star in 2027.

Madrid are also keeping a close eye on the youngster they originally sold to Como in 2024.

The Spanish and European giants have an option to bring Paz back to the Bernabéu for €80 million (£67 million, $89.6 million).

“Florentino Pérez himself is a big fan of the player and is on the player’s track, as the club will consider next summer whether to use the €80 million buy-back clause that they set upon his departure.”
