There is always a demand for success when you spend as much money as Chelsea do on players. – They have been so eager to buy the button that sanctions from the Premier League have become a habit. Newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso has even come out and said that they have a far too large group of players.
Not that Chelsea are going to stop buying, it will take years of therapy and weaning to get it right, but now they are going to sell, on a historic scale.

Chelsea are about to embark on a crazy end to the transfer window, worth a whopping €300 million. The first piece out is Pedro Neto, who is ready for Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal.
The winger has agreed to leave the club in a deal worth €60 million – exactly the same as Chelsea paid Wolverhampton for him in 2024.
According to Sky Sports’ transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, all that remains is for Al-Hilal and Chelsea to agree on the terms of the transfer. Once in port, the gates at Stamford Bridge are expected to open for a number of other sales.
Neto out – Rogers in
Neto joined Chelsea after a breakthrough at Wolves, where he provided nine assists in 20 Premier League appearances. At Chelsea, he showed flashes of class, but never managed to deliver the numbers expected at the top level.
In the 2025/26 Premier League season, he scored five goals and had six assists in 34 games – 30 of them from the start.
Now Chelsea have upgraded. The club spent a whopping €137 million to bring in Morgan Rogers to fill the role of attacking midfielder, making 26-year-old Neto redundant.

Another sale above market value
Chelsea have sold very well this summer – often at prices far above market value – and are doing it again with Neto.
The club has priced their Portuguese winger at €60 million, exactly what they paid for him. The expectation is that Al-Hilal matches the requirement.
However, Neto’s estimated transfer value (ETV) stands at €51.7 million – which still suggests that Chelsea are making a good deal. Earlier this year, the value was as high as 66.5 million euros.
Neto will be Chelsea’s fifth big sale this summer, after Andrey Santos, Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah and Tyrique George. The transfer fee is expected to be higher than for some of his former teammates.

More exits are expected before the window closes. Xabi Alonso has a huge and unwieldy squad, and several big names could disappear.
Among those linked to the exit are Malo Gusto, Axel Disasi, Benoît Badiashile, Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson, Marc Guiu – and even Enzo Fernández.

These players alone have a combined value of over 240 million euros. In other words, there is still a lot of work to be done for Chelsea before the squad is ready for the Premier League.
The net sale is therefore an important start to what looks set to be a remarkable August for Chelsea – a month in which the club could earn at least €300 million in the transfer market.
