Micky van de Ven had this week extended his contract, while Cristian Romero said goodbye to the supporters on Saturday. One of the world’s best centre-backs is leaving the Premier League, leaving behind the Argentine the Europa League trophy in Spurs’ trophy cabinet.
There is no doubt about the importance captain Romero has had for the London club, but 156 games with the Argentine world champion in central defence have also resulted in some headless red cards, injuries and miserably timed criticism of the club management.

Nevertheless, Tottenham fans will remember Romero fondly, the Argentine led the club to the much-awaited trophy, which came in the Europa League after the final victory against Manchester United.
Atletico Madrid have secured the signing for around €40 million, now Romero will be Diego Simeone’s new defensive general.
