When Jürgen Klopp left Liverpool in the summer of 2024, Liverpool fans didn’t understand how this was going to go. Master Klopp had become synonymous with Liverpool, now the marriage was over. It went well, very well. Arne Slot built on the work that had been done and lifted the game into the Premier League title. Now, we should be careful about comparing Liverpool and Bournemouth, but for the supporters of Bournemouth, the club is facing a similar change of coach.
Earlier this month, the club confirmed that Andoni Ireola will not be extending, leaving in June the club he took over in 2023. 12th and 9th place in the Premier League may not sound that impressive, but when you manage a club like Bournemouth, with budgets in a different galaxy, compared to the big clubs in the world’s toughest league, these are very strong positions. Since 2023, Andoni Iraola has led Bournemouth from a position five points away from relegation in the 2022/23 season to success.

This season, Bournemouth are actually in position to take the Europa League ticket from Chelsea in 5th place.
So who will try to build on and sustain the success of Master Andoni? Over the past week, Haaland’s former coach at RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund has been heavily linked to the club. On Monday, the confirmation came.
Marco Rose has been without a coaching job since he was sacked at RB Leipzig in March 2025, after managing the club for around two and a half years, and now the German will make his debut as Premier League manager by taking over the baton from successful coach Andoni.
Rose takes over the job after the start of the season, Bournemouth supporters hope it will be a continuation – and not a total collapse – without Andoni.
