On Sunday, Arsenal were supposed to “paint London red and white” by officially being able to lift the Premier League title. As worthy league champions, Martin Ødegaard and the Arsenal gang also finished with a 1-2 win against Crystal Palace. City rivals Tottenham had a completely different scenario, which ended without disaster, but there were hardly any nails left on the fingers of the Spurs supporters.

West Ham did the job with a 3-0 win over Leeds, and with Tottenham’s loss to Everton, they would remain in the Premier League, while Roberto de Zerbi and Tottenham would then have to go into the relegation elevator.

An all-electric home crowd lifted Tottenham forward against Everton, with David Moyes on the sidelines highly motivated to help his former club West Ham not be relegated. The game was not surprisingly characterized by nervousness, and an uneasiness spread among the home supporters.

Then Joao Palhinha stepped up two minutes before half-time with the liberating 1-0 score. In the second half, one came after the other goal for West Ham, who were six minutes ahead in the course. Tottenham had a better goal difference and would have endured a draw against Everton, but if the first goal came for the Liverpool club, it would have been a completely different game.

The first goal never came, Tottenham keep their place in the Premier League!
