After almost a year without a club, Dele Alli can finally get a second chance in Italian football.
Monza are showing great interest in the 30-year-old English midfielder – and are considering offering him a one-year contract with an option for one more year. Since Alli is clubless, Monza do not have to pay a transfer fee, which makes the deal extra attractive for newly promoted Monza.

Monza wants to give Alli a new start
Monza are back in Serie A after promotion this summer, and they are working hard to strengthen their squad before the window closes.
Alli has been without a club since he ended his contract with Como in September 2025 – and can therefore be picked up for free. Thus, most of it is about agreeing on salary terms.
The plan from the Monza club in Lombardy is clear: one season with an option for one more year. That way, they can test whether Alli can get back into rhythm – and then decide later.

The Como stay turned into a nightmare season
Alli signed for Como in January 2025, after training with Cesc Fàbregas’ side for several weeks. The contract ran until June 2026, with the possibility of extension.
But there was only one game.
- March 2025 against AC Milan, he came on in the 81st minute – and was sent off in extra time. That’s all. After only a few minutes of official play, the stay was over.
A few months later, the agreement was terminated jointly. Since then, Alli has been without a club – and without a single official match.
The Tottenham star who disappeared
But the Englishman has a past to show for it. 194 Premier League appearances, 51 goals and 34 assists – the most in a Tottenham shirt between 2015 and 2022.
That’s where he really blossomed. Since then, his career has stalled, but Monza hopes to bring out the glimpses of the old days again.
Could get a second chance in Italy
For Monza, it’s a low-risk chance: no transfer fee, short contract and the option to extend if it works.
Alli already knows Serie A from his stay in Como, but this time it’s all about playing regularly – something he hasn’t done for a very long time.
Now it remains to be seen whether the interest will turn into a concrete offer. If talks continue, Dele Alli could soon be ready for a new chapter in Italy – with one year plus an option for another one.
