‘Dissatisfied’ Liverpool star ready to LEAVE Anfield and join Aston Villa
Aston Villa are preparing a “concrete” move for a disgruntled Liverpool player, and his exit will, in the opinion of many fans, tear the heart out of Anfield.

Liverpool have always prided themselves on having their own players in the team, and over the last three decades they have been well represented by club icons such as Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Been in Liverpool all my life!
But after the latter disappeared to Real Madrid, Curtis Jones is now the only one of the old guard in Arne Slot’s first-team squad.
And despite the fact that he is self-developed and is only now entering his prime as a 25-year-old, it seems that the paths will part.
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Jones is “not happy” with his peripheral role at Liverpool.
Jones does get to play a few games – he already has 44 games this season. But many of them have come as substitutes, and when he started in the Merseyside derby on Sunday, it was as a right-back.
Slot has already talked about Liverpool swapping players again in the summer. In other words, a handful of household names will be sold to ensure Liverpool can spend huge sums of money on the type of players they long for – such as RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, who is the first choice to replace Mohamed Salah.
Jones is under contract with Liverpool for another year, and a summer sale while there is still a chance to bring in a significant sum would make sense.
O’Rourke explained: “We know there was a big turnover of players at Anfield last year, with big signings coming in. Players were sacrificed to fund it, and it’s likely to be a similar case this year. I’m sure there are some players who are going to move.”
“You’ve got players like Curtis Jones, who doesn’t have much time left on his contract at Anfield, so his situation could change in the summer window. He is not satisfied with being a peripheral player at Liverpool right now – he wants to be more involved, so he can look for a transfer. There is uncertainty about several players in that Liverpool squad.”
Aston Villa want Curtis Jones
A few days ago, the news broke that there is a very real possibility of Jones joining Aston Villa.
Jones is “preparing to leave Liverpool”, and Unai Emery’s team is now putting the pieces together to make what is referred to as a “concrete offer”.
Villa and Liverpool have a recent history in the transfer market, having struck a deal for Harvey Elliott last summer.
While that move hasn’t gone according to plan – Elliott has barely played – sources suggest that the relationship between the two Premier League clubs is still intact and healthy.
Liverpool have tried to link Jones to a new contract, but since the player wants a bigger role – something the club cannot guarantee under Slot – talks on that front have stalled.
A summer sale is thus a real possibility, and besides Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle and Inter Milan are also in the picture.
