We’ve never seen United legend Paul Scholes encourage a Manchester United player to sign with rivals Chelsea, but in the case of Kobbie Mainoo, Scholes was so frustrated and angry at the treatment Amorim had given the club’s greatest talent. Ruben Amorim is now history, Mainoo has gotten older (with a little more ground contact), now the previously so disgruntled super talent is reported and the club has agreed on the way forward.

In Michael Carrick’s first game as interim Man Utd manager, Kobbie Mainoo was back in the starting eleven. Manchester City were sunk at Old Trafford, the 20-year-old stood the entire game. Thus, a continuous downward streak was interrupted for Mainoo, where he with various messages on social media did not hide how leaden it was to be put in the freezer by Amorim. Mainoo was well on his way away from Old Trafford in the winter transfer window, then ended with Amorim’s exit in early January.

Since then, Mainoo has been a regular in Carrick’s starting eleven – and delivered the goods. In the past month, various English media have reported on negotiations to ensure that the 20-year-old will not lose focus from his continuation at Old Trafford, now the parties will agree, it is reported.

Because according to United journalist Samuel Luckhurst (now for The Sun), United and Mainoo have agreed on a five-year contract, where it is only a matter of time before the contract extension can be announced.

Mainoo once again stood out with big plays in Saturday’s very important 0-1 win over Chelsea, even a possible change of manager should not deny Mainoo from continuing for the club in his heart.
