When Lucien Favre was weighed too lightly at Borussia Dortmund in December 2020, it was assistant Eden Terzic who was given the job of substitute for the rest of the season. It ended with a cup title. Then Marco Rose got a try as head coach before the club’s technical director, Terzic, was again given a tracksuit and whistle. With Terzic as head coach, it ended with second place in the Bundesliga, losing on goal difference in the last league round. In 2023/24, Terzic led the Bundesliga club all the way to the Champions League final (losing 0-2 to Real Madrid). Now La Liga is calling.
Terzic has been linked to the Premier League for the past year, but in recent months it has been about La Liga. On Tuesday, the confirmation came.

Erneste Valverde has been in charge of Athletic Club (Bilbao) since 2022, until the summer the veteran coach will leave Bilbao. The 43-year-old Terzic takes over, with a contract until the summer of 2028.
Athletic are fighting this season in 8th place, three points away from a Conference League ticket with four games left in the season.
Terzic has during his two rounds as Dortmund coach shown great potential as a coach, Hansi Flick has shown former Bundesliga coaches can deliver in La Liga.
