On Sunday, three incredibly important points came for Tottenham. A strong 1-2 win against Aston Villa, the bonus was that fellow relegation candidate West Ham went on a 3-0 loss against Brentford. At the same time as the club is fighting for survival in the world’s toughest league, plans are being made to rig the squad for something more than survival. One of the Premier League’s new, exciting goalkeepers is on the wish list.
With first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario on his way out of the club in the summer transfer window, Tottenham have been linked with both Manchester City’s James Trafford and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen. According to Football-Insider’s sources , Tottenham have now added a third goalkeeper to their list of candidates.

The chosen one is Sunderland’s first goalkeeper, 23-year-old Robin Roefs. The Dutch goalkeeper was brought in last summer after promotion to the Premier League and has handled the move from the NEC and Eredivisie to the world’s toughest league in convincing fashion. Sunderland are the biggest surprise in the Premier League this season, in 12th place with three games left, just 5 points behind the Europa League ticket.
In his debut season, Roefs has only conceded 44 goals in 33 Premier League games, impressive by club and goalkeeper. Sunderland will likely try to resist a sale before next season, but Tottenham have been very “persuasive” in the past when it comes to players they want.
