The former Sogndal, Molde and Rosenborg centre-back Even Hovland, who was brought to Häcken by Per-Mathias Høgmo almost three years ago, will soon be free on the market.
There are only two cup games left this year for Allsvenskan club Häcken and with that only two games left for the 25-year-old, who will not be able to renew his contract with the Swedish top club in the new year.
The player himself confirms this to Fotbollskanalen.
“It’s over for me in Häcken now. I have to respect their choice and look for something else,” he says.
In the winter of 2022, the centre-back made a transfer from Rosenborg to Häcken, where he was an important piece when the club secured its first league championship in its debut season.
Hovland’s contract with the Swedish club expires at the end of the year, and he confirms that he will not receive any new offer from Häcken.
“Yes, that’s how the situation has become. There are many centre-backs in Häcken now, several have longer contracts and they have some younger ones who also need to be accommodated. They have chosen that path and you have to accept that. Then you have to look for new projects and new teams that you can help with results and nice experiences,” says Hovland.
Hovland played a total of 112 games for Häcken, where he accounted for 15 goals and 2 assists. Where the road will go next, he is unsure.
“Some suggestions have emerged, but I haven’t taken a position on anything yet,” he says and continues.
“We’ll see. It will take some time. I haven’t put any particular time on it. We’ll see what comes up and who would like to have me in their team. Whether it is in Norway, Sweden or somewhere else. We’ll have to look at that in the future and see what becomes relevant.
