Tuesday’s result on the south coast means that Mikel Arteta’s men are now four points ahead of City ahead of the final league round on Sunday. Arsenal can thus lift the trophy away to Crystal Palace.

The build-up to the game was overshadowed by dramatic reports that Pep Guardiola will step down as City manager at the end of the season. Before the game, he told the TV stations that the speculation about his future had “absolutely zero” impact on the preparations. Nevertheless, his team was completely outplayed and outfought by a brilliant Bournemouth.
The Cherries extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games. Spurred on by a deafening away crowd in the small stadium, teenage phenom Junior Kroupi sent the ball into the net with a beautiful curling finish six minutes before half-time.
The home goalkeeper saved Bournemouth – Haaland reduced too late
Home goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic made a crucial save when he denied Nico O’Reilly early in the second half. Although Erling Haaland scored a late equaliser, the hosts held on.
Iraola’s farewell – and ticket to Europe
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season. This result ensures that the Spaniard has contributed to a fantastic feat: European games for Bournemouth next season.
